Seven notable fact-checks
Summaries of notable dossiers from our Vietnamese fact-check archive (four-level verdict scale). In September 2026 we re-checked every dossier against linked sources and withdrew those whose rumour or evidence could not be traced. Links lead to the full Vietnamese dossiers.
The one rule that defeats most scams: Minh Tue does not accept money — face to face, by bank transfer, or in any other form — and has authorized no one to accept it for him. Any appeal for funds in his name is fraudulent.
Donation appeals "to support Master Minh Tue" (bank transfers, QR codes, "support funds")
He has told Vietnamese media that he accepts no money in any form (VietNamNet, May 17, 2024), and we have found no collector authorised by him. In 2024 police in Gia Lai province prosecuted a scammer who took 244.9 million VND from one victim under this pretext. Treat every money appeal in his name as a scam.
Videos of "Minh Tue appealing for donations to camera"
We found no documented instance of such a video, and our earlier dossier on it has been withdrawn because its analysis could not be traced. What is documented: he has told the press that he accepts no money in any form — so treat any video asking for money in his name as a scam.
"Official channels of Minh Tue / of the walking group"
We have found no channel announced by him or the group. A handwritten letter of November 2024 signed "Minh Tuệ" (its authenticity was questioned by some) asked people not to film him or post his image online; it does not mention channels. A self-styled group leader left the group on February 4, 2025. This website is an independent archive, not his voice.
Viral "teachings of Master Minh Tue" quote cards
Our own audit in September 2026 found that many sayings attributed to him — including some this site once published — cannot be traced to any recording or press report. Check a quote against a dated press report before sharing it.
"The sangha has completely disbanded"
Three people, including a self-styled group leader, left on February 4, 2025 (RFA). Community trackers still record the group travelling and, in September 2026, 37 members in Lumbini — figures we cannot independently verify.
Photos of him "using a smartphone"
We found no documented instance of this rumour. In May 2024 he told VietNamNet he does not use a phone, and look-alikes have been misidentified as him before (a Lâm Đồng poster was fined in October 2024). Our earlier "foreign dignitary" collage dossier has been withdrawn because its analysis could not be traced.
The rice-cooker alms bowl predates his fame
Press in 2024 documented him and his followers carrying rice-cooker pots as alms bowls. We found no mainstream report on where the pot came from or when he started using it; an earlier version of this summary cited photographs we could not trace.
